Latest read: The Spoon Stealer by Lesley Crewe. Th Latest read: The Spoon Stealer by Lesley Crewe. There was so much to love about this book. Some of my favorite parts were the memoir writing class and the friendships formed from it, the wonderful furry companion of the main character, the complexity and depth with which the author wrote about the dynamics of the Darling family, the book's sweet ending which had me in tears, and, especially, the spoons. ๐Ÿฅ„The way the spoons and their meaning (no spoilers here) were woven all throughout Emmeline's life story was probably the part of the book I cherished most. A worthwhile read that explores navigating complicated family relationships, overcoming generational trauma, spreading kindness, and leaving a legacy that matters. #fiction #bookstagram #bookworm #read #bookreview

This book would've hit me quite differently a few years ago. It's very much a story about facing death, which, like most people, I've tried to avoid for as long as possible. But when you lose multiple loved ones, both human and four-legged, in a short span of time, you're forced to face death. Consequently, I've tried to lean into the discomfort and fear I've had around death, especially by means of self-education (especially via many interviews with and videos by @hospicenursejulie).โฃ โฃ This book, especially its ending, was touching.
